Sonya, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, underwent a life-changing event at the age of seven being placed in foster care and adopted at 10years of age. This pivotal moment was driven by her mother's battle with mental illness. Adopted Me is a book that draws from the author's own experience of foster care and adoption. She refers to her blended family as "bees" and wants to inspire others with empathy in the hope of becoming adoptive parents.
