Now there is a point which I should like to make because I think it needs, possibly, to be recognized. Mr. Everett has always been called a cold man. It has been my fortune to know some of those cold men, who keep one at a dis tance. They are as genial men as I have happened to encounter. They are not men with whom you take liberties. They are reserved towards those who intrude upon them but any one who has the slightest claim has found them very kind, very approachable men. Such at least has been my experience.
