A book of poetry focusing on issues of addiction and recovery. It is not often that the words "whimsical" and "entertaining" speak to difficulties of addiction, and rarely the topic is covered in a poetic fashion. But poet "Tiger" Lydi Pallarés addresses addiction in a novel way: an alphabetical collection of poems so delightful one is jolted by every insightful laser beam shedding light on the overindulgences to which so many of us fall prey. Addictions A to Z: Alphabet Soup Bowl presents poems for every letter of the alphabet in each of five lyrical chapters that will hit home while bringing a chuckle and a tear. Easing through more than 175 poems takes the reader on a voyage through addictions serious and comical, and addresses many human follies, with titles running the gamut from “Derby Day” to “Mirror Mirror,” “Marathon Runner” to “Pot and Prudes,” “Tattoos” to “U.F.O.’s,” and “Video Games” to “Yard Sales.” All readers will relate to these poems, which go down smoothly—yet pack a punch.
