Have you ever wondered why some gospels were hidden away, and what secrets the forgotten apostle carried?
The Acts of Matthias provides a compelling modern translation of one of the most mysterious works of early Christian history. This ancient text, attributed to anonymous early Christian writers, recounts the traditions, teachings, and acts of Matthias, the disciple who took the mantle of the twelfth apostle.
Far more than a simple historical chronicle, the Acts of Matthias delves into profound themes of asceticism, the pursuit of esoteric knowledge, and the spiritual sacrifices made in the pursuit of divine revelation. Through its surviving fragments and traditions, readers are invited to explore a side of early Christianity that existed outside the canonical boundaries, filled with unique interpretations of faith, the material world, and the nature of the soul.
