What would you sacrifice to protect the ones you love?
Avery Walters and her mother have lived in rural Arkansas for more than a decade, a quiet community that is her sanctuary as much as it's her prison. When Avery's best friend, Rachel, secretly enters her into a national photography competition, Avery is thrust into the spotlight, her life and her career under scrutiny on one of the biggest stages in the world.
Upon her arrival, Avery is determined to win the contest, while simultaneously working overtime to keep a low profile. As the competition grows more intense, unexpected guests find their way into Avery's life, including Graham, Rachel's older brother and the man she abruptly abandoned five years earlier. Can Avery protect her family while pursuing her dreams? And can she reconnect with the man she loves without exposing her true past, her betrayal so full of secrets that revealing them will shatter any hope that Avery and Graham still have of a future.
A story of love, loss, adventure, and discovery, Across the Salted Plains weaves through Avery's complicated life, past and present, challenging what it means to love others while also finding yourself. It's a deep dive into the unshakable bonds of family and friendship, the heartbreak of true sacrifice, and the powerful connections that change us forever.
