Thomas Summers is an electrical engineer who believes he understands how the world works—until a violent storm sends his car off a mountain road and brings him to a mysterious cottage inhabited by two people who should not exist.
Aevan and Amara tell him that Consciousness is infinite, that the material universe is an appearance within it, and that time and distance are not the realities he has always assumed them to be. Then they show him.
Within days, Thomas learns to cross thousands of miles without traveling through space. A planned vacation takes him to Assisi, where he meets Ingrid Hansson, a Swedish nun and scholar of medieval church history whose own mystical experience has brought her into conflict with the doctrines she has served for ten years.
Their recognition is immediate.
What begins as an impossible love between an American engineer and a Catholic nun becomes something far greater when Francis and Clare of Assisi enter their lives and reveal that Thomas and Ingrid have known—and loved—one another before.
Ingrid must choose between obedience to an institution and fidelity to what she has directly experienced. Thomas must abandon everything he once believed about reality. Together they build a new life in Sweden while discovering that their love is not confined to one lifetime, one body, or even one world.
Across No Distance is a metaphysical novel about eternal love, mystical experience, the nature of Consciousness, and a startling possibility: perhaps separation itself is the illusion.
Perhaps there really is no distance to cross.
