In the novel Access to Capital the bank is licensed by the government to take deposits, but how does it invest the money, and what high stakes games are played?
Luke Boyd has started a new financial services firm. Luke's immediate success draws the attention of his primary lender. In search of expansion opportunities, the bank targets Luke's company as a prime target for a takeover. While in the middle of a long-term secret relationship, Luke battles to save his company and to find the path to the life he wants to lead. Access to Capital is an intense look at love and money. The novel is set amid a political movement to consolidate the banking industry, while a regional economy, dependent on high cost oil from fracked wells, collapses. The book reflects the changing roles of women in the 1980's, and the contradiction of one's own interests.
