Coles Aberdeen Light and Shadow: poems by Jane Trechsel at Village Green Shopping Centre in Vernon, BC

Aberdeen Light and Shadow is a surprising first book of poetry by a poet who, at 75, has never published. This is a collection of a lifetime of observation and connection with the natural world, as well as the joys and losses of being human. The poems are honest and accessible; her imagery and insight is compelling. Trechsel was an actress, yoga teacher, professional voice actor, musician, mother, and grandmother. All the while she was writing poems that address the fascination many of us feel with the ineffable-the Mystery that hides just out of reach, the slipperiness of Time and Reality, the illusion of personality. Her friends and family have encouraged her to bring some of her work out to a larger audience. Aberdeen Light and Shadow is a pleasure to read and re-read.
