The poem "A Visit from the Elves" is inspired by the real-life adventures of the Keenan boys from a small town in Pennsylvania. This heartwarming tale is about the magical visits they experienced from mischievous elves every Christmas Eve. These elusive little helpers had a special tradition of leaving cozy pajamas signaling that Santa was in the neighborhood and that it was time to go to bed. As the night unfolds, three elves named Tinsel, Twinkle, and Jolly embark on Operation Bedtime, a mission to deliver pajamas to children as a signal that St. Nicholas is near. The elves navigate the neighborhood with skill and wit, avoiding traps set by curious children and ensuring a seamless delivery of gifts. The story captures the excitement of Christmas Eve, with the elves relishing in the holiday spirit, enjoying treats left by thoughtful children. The poem paints a vivid picture of the joyous chaos that ensues, from guarded doors to creative traps, all while the elves spread cheer and leave behind snugly wrapped pajamas. As the night culminates, the elves complete their mission with hugs and smiles, boarding their sleigh, and lifting away into the starry sky. The poem concludes with a festive wish for a "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight," leaving behind a town filled with dreaming and content children eagerly anticipating the arrival of St. Nicholas.
