""A View of the Danger and Folly of Being Public-Spirited, and Sincerely Loving One's Country"" is a book written by William Hamill in 1721. The book is a critique of the idea of patriotism and public-spiritedness, arguing that such sentiments can often lead to dangerous and foolish actions. Hamill argues that blindly following the interests of one's country can lead to aggression, war, and the oppression of other nations. He also argues that patriotism can lead to a neglect of one's personal duties and responsibilities, and can distract people from pursuing their own happiness and well-being. Overall, the book is a cautionary tale about the dangers of blindly following nationalist sentiments, and encourages readers to think critically about their own loyalties and allegiances. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
