At times the world seems full of evil and injustice. Another school shooting, a natural disaster, the innocent exploited--these are our headlines. The brokenness of the world causes us to question: "Where is God in this? How could a good God allow . . . ? Why should I believe in a God who . . . ?" In A Very Good God in a Badly Broken World, Dan Boone says that a helpful way to speak honestly about God in the midst of turmoil is to tell stories--the tough stories: Noah, floating in the chaos. Job, sitting in the rubble. The psalmists, uttering unthinkable prayers. These stories help us remember how very good God is. These stories empower us to respond to a broken world with confidence and hope.
