A Very Different Drummer: The Mother of Mozart Before the world knew the name Mozart, there was a mother making impossible choices. Anna Maria Pertl must raise two extraordinary children while the world demands more and more from the youngest-Wolfgang, a prodigy whose gift will captivate Europe but reshape her family forever. Anna Maria expects a modest life in Salzburg: marriage to a court musician, a household to manage, children to raise. But destiny carries her far beyond provincial Austria. When her son's remarkable talent becomes known, the family is drawn into the glittering yet relentless courts of eighteenth-century Europe. Of seven children born to Anna Maria, only two survive: the talented Nannerl and the youngest, Wolfgang. As his childhood becomes a public spectacle and the Mozart household transforms into a travelling enterprise, Anna Maria must navigate the treacherous currents of ambition, politics, and pride. When the world begins to whisper the name Mozart, she faces a heartbreaking crossroads-leaving one child behind while following the uncertain future of another's genius. A Very Different Drummer is a work of historical biographical fiction that explores the woman behind the legend. It tells the story of Anna Maria Mozart, the sacrifices of motherhood, and the family circumstances that shaped one of history's greatest musical prodigies.
