In A True Interpretation of the Witch of Endor, Lodowick Muggleton provides a detailed analysis and interpretation of the biblical account found in 1 Samuel 28, where King Saul consults a medium, commonly referred to as the Witch of Endor. Muggleton approaches this narrative from a theological perspective, arguing against traditional interpretations that view the witch as a legitimate source of communication with the dead.Muggleton contends that the story illustrates the dangers of straying from divine guidance and the perils of engaging with occult practices. He emphasizes that the witch's actions do not provide true prophecy or insight, but rather reflect a profound spiritual disconnection and moral decline in Saul’s character. Throughout the work, Muggleton also discusses the broader implications of witchcraft in society and encourages readers to uphold a faith grounded in a direct relationship with God, rather than relying on supernatural intermediaries.
