A Terribly Strange Bed is a short story written by Wilkie Collins, a British novelist and playwright, and originally published in 1852. The story follows the narrator, a young man named Faulkner, who finds himself in a precarious situation after winning a large sum of money at a Parisian casino. Faulkner is persuaded by a fellow gambler to spend the night at his luxurious apartment, but soon realizes that he has fallen into a trap. The room he is given to sleep in has a strange and unsettling atmosphere, and as the night progresses, Faulkner becomes increasingly paranoid and fearful for his life. He discovers that the bed he is sleeping in is rigged to collapse and suffocate him, and he must use all his wits to escape the deadly trap.
