A heartwarming tale of community, redemption, and the unexpected heroes who hold us together.
David Wells doesn't know a hay bale from a basketball, but he's learning-fast. When his daughter Anna falls in love with a yearling horse, David teams up with the wise (and wonderfully eccentric) Judge Long to build a barn that straddles both their properties. Before long, the whole Wells family is dreaming big: Beth wants a basketball court, Charlie has his heart set on a treehouse rivaling the Eiffel Tower, and Melba just wants a garden where her chickens can live long, happy lives.
The good folks of Caughman roll up their sleeves and get to work. Between the questionable carpentry and the storytelling at Caughman's Store, the Wells family finds themselves woven into the fabric of a community where laughter comes easy and the coffee's always hot.
But not everything is idyllic in this quirky Southern town. Edna Scrooch, the resident grump who seems to hate children, has sold land that could bring a factory-and a devastating road-right through the heart of Caughman. As the community fractures and the Wells children each face their own battles, they find unexpected wisdom in the stories shared by the veterans of Caughman's Council. Tales of war and peace, of heroes who don't look like heroes, and of love that outlasts loss.
When hope seems lost, a redbird leads the children into the woods, where they discover something that could change everything-including the truth about why Edna Scrooch became the woman everyone feared.
A Tall Glass of Lemonade is a celebration of small-town life, the healing power of stories, and the families we choose. Perfect for fans of The Help , Where the Crawdads Sing , and anyone who believes that home is more than just a place-it's the people who show up when you need them most.
