Winner of the Koestler Arts Awards 2025 – Outstanding Debut Award for Short Fiction
A heartwarming children's picture book about kindness, friendship, and giving.
On a snowy winter's day, two boys from very different backgrounds pass the same little shop—Bearing Gifts.
One child comes from a wealthy home but feels lonely.
The other lives with very little and longs for a friend.
In the shop window, two special teddy bears sit, holding a single heart between them. That night, both boys make the very same wish… and something magical begins.
A Tale of Two Teddies is a beautifully illustrated children's picture book that gently explores kindness, empathy, inequality, and generosity in a way young readers can understand. Blending magical storytelling with emotional warmth, the book encourages children to see the power of caring for others and the importance of sharing.
Recognised for its emotional depth and storytelling impact, this book was awarded the Outstanding Debut Award for Short Fiction at the Koestler Arts Awards 2025, celebrating its meaningful contribution to literature with a social purpose.
Perfect for:
Children aged 3–8
Bedtime stories and shared reading
Early years and primary classrooms
Parents seeking values-based children's books
Readers who love teddy bear stories, friendship stories, and kindness books for kids
This story supports emotional development by encouraging:

A Tale of Two Teddies is more than a children's book—it's an award-winning children's story, a social impact picture book, and a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can change a life.
