This book was originally published under the same title and subtitle written by the same author and the cover was created by the same illustrator. This edition is presented in a new format--5 x 8, increasing the pixels of the image and adding the illustrator's name. The interior contains a complete table of contents and a map has been added. This is a true story of a family forced by the Germans to leave their home in Romania in 1940 to resettle in Germany. The girls, ages 10 and 7, accompanied by a younger brother, their parents and maternal grandmother, traveled by train through Bulgaria, Czheckoslavakia, Poland, Hungary, Yugoslavia and Germany over a five-year period. They lived in refugee tents and wherever they found hospitable accommodations until arrival in Berlin just before the war ended in 1945. Following the Armistice their refugee status continued for another seven years. Through the assistance of World Church Services they were offered the opportunity to immigrate to the United States. Here they were sponsored by families in Kansas before finally settling in Windsor, Colorado.
