Officer LaMar Sharpe is an 18-year veteran with the City of Canton Police Department and Founder of the Be A Better Me Foundation, a thriving nonprofit that empowers inner-city youth through mentoring and tutoring. This is the raw and emotional story of how LaMar beat all the odds to become a pillar of his community as he strives to reach his ultimate goal of bringing Be A Better Me Foundations to other cities across the United States. In this extraordinary journey, you'll take a walk in LaMar's shoes... wearing leg braces at two in a gang-ridden neighborhood in Akron, Ohio, earning a football scholarship before blowing out his knee, selling vacuum cleaners, working in corrections, joining the police force, raising a family of nine, starting a nonprofit organization, being featured on Mike Rowe's hit series Returning The Favor and starting a publishing company. From tragedy to triumph, LaMar's story will make you want to become a better version of yourself. So you can then inspire others to do the same
