Freya is a kind, clever, yet anxious young girl secretly learning to harness Magic to alter the Rules of Reality . Her father, Kal , is a reclusive, disenfranchised veteran of the Second Grand Crusade, with scars that run further than the war, concealed even from his memories . Together, in their tiny hilltop home, Kal teaches Freya what little he knows of their Magic and is determined to protect her at all costs. Freya wishes to live a happy, peaceful life with her father and friends in town, hoping their Magical abilities remain undiscovered . Yet things inevitably change, and not always for the better.
