What happens when a lifelong sailor trades canvas for diesel and dreams for practicality?
In A Squadron of Characters , Ed Muir chronicles a deeply personal, real-time account of one couple's passionate journey to find the perfect boat for coastal cruising. This isn't just a story of navigating waters-it's a narrative about navigating life, choices, and the realities of stepping away from romanticized sailing dreams to embrace practical, comfortable cruising aboard a rare Pilgrim 40.
From Maine's picturesque Penobscot Bay to the marinas of the Carolinas, Ed takes you through trials, triumphs, and the soul-searching that led to discovering the boat that checked every box. This book delivers thoughtful lessons, honest reflections, and practical insights for anyone dreaming of boat ownership or longing for a cruising lifestyle grounded in authenticity-not Instagram perfection.
Whether you're exploring your first trawler, planning the Great Loop, or simply captivated by nautical memoirs, A Squadron of Characters will inspire and educate you in equal measure.
