Coles A Splash of Silence: A Mermaid Springs Mystery, #2 at Village Green Shopping Centre in Vernon, BC
*Product information may vary - to confirm product availability, pricing, shipping and return information please contact Coles
When smooth-talking ventriloquist Vincent "Velvet Voice" Valentine vanishes from Mermaid Springs along with the enigmatic daughter of a Chicago businessman, the town bubbles with gossip about a whirlwind romance. But newspaper editor Mildred Lancaster senses something far more sinister beneath the surface.
After the ventriloquist's dummy is found vandalized, a series of jewel thefts surfaces, and well-dressed "associates" from Chicago arrive in town, sending tension rippling through the community. The deeper Mildred digs, the more dangerous the waters become, especially when threatening notes begin arriving, warning her to drop the story.
With the earnest Sheriff Donovan by her side, Mildred must navigate the murky depths of small-town secrets, family loyalties, and a web of deception that stretches from the cypress swamps of Florida to the backrooms of Chicago's underworld.
Because sometimes the deepest secrets aren't buried at the bottom of a spring—they're hidden in the hearts of those we trust most.
