'A space on the shelf' starts on a day in the life of young Jessie McNulty that's like no other.
A special book (with a cheque inside) belonging to her ex-boyfriend Johnny's Nana goes missing from her apartment. This unlocks a rollercoaster chain of events where twenty-five-year-old Jessie's past and present life unravel. Jessie must face complex personal and professional issues. In these chaotic few months, Jessie must act in sorting out her life. 'A space on the shelf' is a funny yet profound coming-of-age tale of a young woman set in Dublin, Ireland. It is an illustrated book with carefully designed works that depict her and this key moment. It is about a woman's journey at a dawning point. Ultimately, alongside her undertaking to reclaim the precious book, Jessie gains a deeper insight into what it takes to come through life in one piece. To find her unique space on the shelf of this life and to know what true friendship means to her along the way.
