A glowing and relevant tribute to the tenacity and hope of immigrant families seeking safety and reunion with loved ones, told through the story of one family's cherished soup pot.
Miriam's father has been in America for nearly three years looking for a place for their family. Finally, a letter arrives, and Miriam, her mother, and her little brother Yusef pack up their belongings to leave Divin by train and ship to make the journey to America. Most important among their belongings is the soup pot that has been passed down through the generations and carries the joy, grief, and chicken soup of the family.
