Alex is no stranger to Black history. When it is announced that his class will be visiting a local museum which features exhibits about the enslavement of African Americans, he is reluctant to participate. Through encouragement from his parents, Alex finds that Black history is so much more than he ever imagined.
This is a perfect book to spark a love of learning and show how Black history is a beautiful tapestry woven into the fabric of our communities.
As a bonus, the book also includes discussion questions, follow-on activity ideas, and a brief historical background of the featured museum, the Sandy Spring Slave Museum and African Art Gallery.
