A century of warlord-driven chaos in the wake of the White Plague seems destined to end when visionary philosopher Rezden, and architect of change, Maxmillian Grace build the megacity of Horizen from the ashes of the immortals. It is meant to herald in a "New Order" of reason, honour, integrity, justice and opportunity for all. But almost from the outset, status and power begin seducing pliant minds. Decades pass, and the dream which started so bright with so much promise, slowly begins to rot from within. Greed festers and consumes, as faith crumbles before dark predatory forces lurking within the city's fortressed walls.
Beyond the fortressed walls, smog from the magacity permeates all - and surrounding valleys and farmlands are dying. Farmer Joss and his wife Elizabeth fight to survive but are losing their struggle. They know they will have to leave all and try eke out a way to survive in the megacity. They fear for their children, Gilbert and Purity, both fragile. They would not cope. But unknown to the world, the children possess the gift of Hearman - the power to converse with the voices of nature. And the power of nature should never to be underrated. From the birth of A New Order to the desecration of innocence, Purity - A New Order - the first of a two part series - is an epic saga of love, conflict, sacrifice, betrayal, the eternal struggle between good and evil, and the incredible power of the human spirit. When reason fails and all hope is forgotten, may Purity prevail.
