When Sara Crewe's father dies, her privileged status at an English boarding school comes to an abrupt end. The former favorite finds herself penniless and at the mercy of a vindictive headmistress -- but still manages to maintain her kind nature and optimistic outlook. This Victorian-era tale's message of making the best of misfortunes through imagination and generosity remains a source of inspiration and enchantment.
