A Life Well-Spent is a warm, personal memoir that follows John Abello's journey from his early years in Manila, Philippines, to life as an exchange student in Michigan, building a family in America, and ultimately establishing a long and memorable career with FedEx. Through candid stories, humor, hardships, and treasured memories, Abello reflects on the people and experiences that shaped the course of his life.
A major part of the memoir explores his decades as a FedEx courier, beginning with his decision to apply to the company in 1990 and continuing through the challenges, unusual encounters, demanding delivery routes, workplace friendships, and unforgettable moments that became part of his everyday life.
More than a career memoir, however, A Life Well-Spent is a reflection on family, perseverance, gratitude, faith, and the meaning of a life measured through experiences rather than accomplishments alone. Abello makes clear that although his exchange-student years and FedEx career were important highlights, his family comes before everything else.
