Excerpt from A Life for Liberty: Anti-Slavery and Other Letters of Sallie Holley I have written introductory chapters to these letters and, for the rest, have tried to give them asetting of anti-slavery history, to this end re-reading, with much else, both new and old, the Story of Garrison's life, told by his children, with a new sense of its invaluable excellence, not merely as a biography, but as an encyclopaedia of the anti-slavery conflict. To my introductions to the various chapters I have added a few foot-notes where any explanation or comment seemed desirable.
