Apartheid? What's that? For a boy growing up in 1960s South Africa, that question would not even occur to him. Living a lifeof dubitable privilege in a country where, for Tony Allen, fun is the order of business. Nothing else matters, but the pursuit of hedonism.A Fine Mess walks the tightrope between political commentary and the pursuit of pleasure. The story gives a better view of the prevailing attitudes of the time than any political commentary can, being seen and described through the eyes of a young boy
