Sheriff Cammie Farnsworth and Jace Northcott are finally married. They no sooner begin their long-awaited honeymoon than Cammie is summoned back to Twin Ponds. Her receptionist/dispatcher Emmy Madachuck’s mother Evelyn has been found murdered, shot at point blank range. Lying just feet away is the unconscious body of Deputy Rick Belleveau, bleeding profusely from a head injury. With the eyes of the townspeople upon her, questioning her objectivity, Cammie must unravel the mystery of what happened to Evelyn Madachuck. In a moment of empassioned rage, did Rick kill the woman who swore to break up his relationship with her daughter Emmy? Or is the answer darker? As evidence mounts, Cammie is forced to face the horrific possibility that the sweet, mild-mannered young woman she’s come to regard more as family than as an employee may be responsible for cold-bloodedly taking the life of her own mother.
