Coles A Boy from Brooklyn: Clinton Simpson and the Orphan Train at Village Green Shopping Centre in Vernon, BC
*Product information may vary - to confirm product availability, pricing, shipping and return information please contact Coles
In United States cities, during the early years of the 20th century, thousands of orphans are dying violently on the streets or freezing to death in alleys. In an effort to save these "street urchins" from poverty and premature demise, a controversial solution goes into effect - ship these kids like cattle. The only son of a strong family unit, Clinton, and his family, confronts a nightmare of economic destitution, following the death of his father. Swept from a warm home and into a Brooklyn asylum, newly orphaned Clinton becomes a hand-selected test case in the salvaging of parentless children. Transported by train, against his will, Clinton lands in Iowa. Forced upon a stage for human distribution, Clinton begins a coming-of-age unlike any other in American history. A true story of courage, survival and faith.
