This book is designed to help the beginning or novice beadworker explore the art of traditional Native American beadwork and guide them through their initial projects. While many beadwork craft books stress more contemporary beading applications, this volume emphasizes the techniques and materials necessary to emulate the traditional art of native artisans. The basic techniques of sewn beadwork are described in detail and are accompanied by clear illustrations. The author also explores the use of color and design elements in traditional beadwork and outlines the historical significance of beads and beaded articles in Native American culture. This guidebook is an excellent first resource for scouts, youth groups, and young adults interested in Native American art and culture.
