There are three farmhouses in Belle Mer. But only one evokes fear, the farmhouse on Haven Lane. All you have to say is the farmhouse, and everyone knows which one you're talking about. They say it's haunted. Fifteen-year-old Brianna Williams loves the community of Belle Mer and desires to live in the toney hamlet. She also adores the farmhouse on Haven Lane, a property that piques her interest and whose rustic charm draws her. In addition, her best friend, Moira Sommerville, is plagued by nightmares about the house. The fact that it's reputed to be haunted doesn't deter Brianna but fuels her curiosity. She persuades Moira to accompany her on a visit to the property to find out why the house affects them. As they step onto the property, they are immediately surrounded by an eerie atmosphere, an ominous maple tree, a deafening silence, and the uncanny feeling of a presence. Yet, Brianna believes there is an explanation. When the farmhouse comes on the market, Brianna is ecstatic. Can she persuade her parents to buy it?
