The apostle Peter, inspired by the Spirit, calls Christians "sojourners and exiles" (2:11) in this world. We experience the hardships and sufferings that often accompany living as such in a hostile world. Yet in and through Christ we have a living hope and are called to lives of faithful witness to the grace and goodness of our God as we "follow in his steps" (2:21).
This in-depth study aims to lead believers into a deeper understanding of the letter of First Peter, especially how it leads us as suffering sojourners to be characterized by a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Participants in this Bible study will read through expositions of each text from the companion volume ( 1 Peter: Living Hope for Suffering Sojourners ) or listen to or watch the sermons on each text (available on Spotify and YouTube playlists) before gathering to discuss questions that are designed to foster both a clearer comprehension of the text and faithful application to our daily lives as we anticipate "the revelation of Jesus Christ" (1:7, 13).
