1 & 2 Kings provide a history of the kings of Judah and Israel. They detail the engagements between priests and prophets, prophets and kings, and royal court and military commanders on issues such as justice, power, and seeking divine and human guidance in times of war and peace. The narratives in these books tell of God's activities in the history of the Israelites fulfilling his promises and prophecies. At the same time, they draw our attention to the need to obey God's laws and commandments. This commentary challenges us to understand the need for healthy interactions and dialogues between religion and politics as well as offering key insights on leadership, governance, worship, and helping those in need. The Asia Bible Commentary Series empowers Christian believers in Asia to read the Bible from within their respective contexts. Holistic in its approach to the text, each exposition of the biblical books combines exegesis and application. The ultimate goal is to strengthen the Body of Christ in Asia by providing pastoral and contextual exposition of every book of the Bible.
