Compare Spinoza in the light of spiritual development by Toon Van Eijk, Paperback | Indigo Chapters

The famous Dutch philosopher Baruch de Spinoza (1632-1677) is difficult to comprehend. Emeritus professor Maarten van Buuren published two books on Spinoza in 2016, in which he analyses Spinoza's philosophy in a meticulous and enlightening way. A number of key concepts in Spinoza's philosophy are: an immanent, nature-inhabiting God, self-determination, freedom, power, reason, intuition and self-appropriation. In this book these key concepts are discussed based on the analysis of Van Buuren and the philosophy of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique. The work of the philosophers Ken Wilber and Otto Duintjer also plays a role in this book. Although a thorough analysis of philosophical concepts is important, practical application of these concepts is paramount. Theory and practice should go hand in hand.
