John Wesley upheld these articles of faith on the basis of the Bible. He explained these articles with reference to the word of God. He upheld what was scriptural in them and rejected what was contrary to scripture. He made the Methodist Church a distinctive Protestant denomination. In this way, Rev. John Wesley made the Methodist Church a scriptural Christianity. The author wished to vindicate these articles firstly and mainly on the basis of the word of God, and then he vindicated them on the basis of his books on his fifty-three sermons and other books.
